The Clarin Council for the Protection of Children of the Municipality of Clarin in the Province of Misamis Occidental through the PKKK- Misamis Occidental and Sangguniang Kabataan has initiated the Municipal- wide Girls Summit 2023 as part of the 2023 International Day of the Girl Child with the theme βBreaking Barriers for a Brighter Futureβ on October 11, 2023 at Poblacion 2, Clarin, Misamis Occidental
The activity was started by a parade around the town, participated by the LCPC Member, Clarin Gender-based Violence Watch Group. and participating schools. The summit became an avenue to discuss issues and concerns affecting the girl child: There were two topics discussed during the summit, first is the Online Safety of Children, discussed by Norma Eslit of Gitib Inc. and the second one is the #GirlsCan by Portia Liwagon of World Vision Development Foundation Inc. The PKKK- Misamis Occidental has also shared their advocacy on adolescent health, addressing health issues affecting the girl child.
9 schools also competed for the Inter-school Sayawit Contest in which the Antero Uy Roa Memorial School bagged the 1st placer, Mialen Central School was proclaimed as the 2nd placer, 3rd place goes to Pan-ay Elementary School, Delapaz Elementary School was proclaimed as the 4th placer and Clarin Central School declared as 5th placer.
