PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc. supported the recent launch of the Makabata Helpline 1383 spearheaded by the Council for the Welfare of Children.

PLDT, together with unified communication and call center platform Telavi, provided the helpline number, connectivity line, and communication management system via the click-to-call feature of the #MakabataHelpline1383. The platform serves as an efficient referral system, which can be used to report violence against and abuse of children.

The event highlighted the launch of the helpline in NCR with around 17 local chief executives in attendance. It was also supported and attended by children’s rights and child online protection advocates from both the government and non-government institutions, including UNICEF Philippines, Save the Children Philippines, and Destiny Rescue Pilipinas Inc.

The Makabata collaborative partnership underscores the continuous effort and commitment of PLDT and Smart to cultivate safer spaces in the digital world by promoting children’s rights and child online protection.
