Good news!

The bill transforming the Council for the Welfare of Children into the Philippine Commission on Children was filed in the Senate on February 5.

It was filed by one of our champions for children’s rights, Senator Risa Hontiveros.

What the bill will provide for:

Adequate human and financial resources
Effective implementation of child rights and welfare policies
Strong and effective local and regional councils for the protection of children

In the House, several versions of the bill have already been filed by Representatives Mitch Cajayon – Uy, Michael Romero, Edwin Olivarez, and Atty. Migs Nograles. As of now, the bills are in the process of consolidation into one unified version.
