CWC Legislative Agenda for Children (CLAC) in the 18th Congress

The CWC as the government lead agency for the promotion and protection of children’s rights and welfare continues to work towards addressing policy issues affecting the progressive realization of the rights of Filipino children by advocating a child – friendly and child – sensitive legislations.

The CWC Board – approved Legislative Agenda during its April 19 meeting is a product of consultation among national government agencies and civil society organizations that sets priority policies in the 18th Congress and shall serve as a basis for advocacy efforts in collaboration with key stakeholders. This will fulfill the recommendations as stated in the observations by the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child and other international and national instruments and plans of action that will be crucial to fulfill.

The CLAC enumerates the roadmap of proposed bills for legislation in the new congress which the CWC will proactively work on:

  1. Creation of the Philippine Commission on Children;
  2. Increasing the Age of Statutory Rape;
  3. Establishing of the Civil Registry and Vital Statistics System;
  4. Ending Child Early Forced and Arranged Marriage; and
  5. Removing the Discrimination Against Illegitimate Children.
