A Showcase  of Chidren’s Talents




To kick-off the 2013 National Children’s Month Celebration (NCM) with the theme:  “Kahirapan Wakasan, karapatan ng Bata Ipaglaban!” a children’s festival was conducted on 05 October 2013 at Don Bosco School, Sta. Mesa, Manila.

The VIDES Philippines Volunteers Foundation, Inc. led by Sr. Josefina Carrasco, FMA in partnership with the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) under the leadership of Executive Director Brenda S. Vigo organized the event.  Around three hundred (300) participants from government organization, non-government organization, faith-based organization, community-workers, and children participated in the event.

A Eucharistic mass officiated by Rev. Fr. Joey B. Tuazon, Parish Priest of Sacred Heart of Jesus graced the celebration.

The children had so much fun as they participated in various activities such as quiz bee, cheer dance, art contest, and essay writing contest.  Highlights of the NCM celebration were awarding of the CWC NCM On-The-Spot Art Competition among Children with Disabilities and a Song Composition contest dubbed as “Titik at Himig.”  Grand prize winners of NCM art competition were Kim Lawrenz C. Esperanza for Poster Making and Rejie Bayos for Clay Modeling Sculpture category.

For “Titik @ Himig” composition contest, the song entitled “Sigaw ng Kabataan” composed by Rosemarie Victoria of San Juan National High School received the first prize.  For the second prize, “Bata, Bata” composed by Sheridan Evangelista from North Fairview High School and “A Child’s Right, Gift from God” composed by Nhel Pauline De Castro from Makati High School for the third prize.

Children were also given the chance to vote for the Children’s Choice award among the three winning song compositions during the event.  The 2nd place song winner entitled “Bata, Bata” got the children’s choice award.
