Mary Mitzi Cajayon-Uy named as the new CWC Executive Director


Mary Mitzi “Mitch” L. Cajayon-Uy formally assumed office as the new Executive Director V of the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) effective July 25, 2017.

President Rodrigo Roa Duterte administered her oath of office last July 17, 2017.

Prior to her appointment as the new Executive Director V, she served as a member of the Caloocan City Council in her first three years in Public Service, and subsequently served as the Representative of the 2nd District of Caloocan City in the 14th and 15th Congress of the Philippines.

Her committee membership in the 14th and 15th Congress extensively includes the Special Committee on the Welfare of Children and Special Persons, Youth and Sports Development, Special Committee on Millennium Development Goals, Committee on Women and Gender Equality and Committee on Higher Education, just to name a few. Further, she also served as a Chairperson to the Special Committee on Globalization and World Trade Organization.

Some of the laws she principally authored and sponsored were R.A. 10627 (Anti-Bullying Act), R.A. 10152 (Mandatory Infant and Children Immunization Act), and R.A. 10630 (An Act Strengthening the Juvenile Justice System).

In her speech during her formal installation, she expressed her high hopes for CWC and the continuity of her advocacy for the welfare of children.

I am hoping that my prior experience in the Legislature could greatly contribute to CWC,” said Executive Director Mitch.
