A whole day Orientation on Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) and Procurement Staff of the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) was held last February 03, 2016 at the CWC Office. The orientation seminar is in line with Republic Act No. 9184 (R.A. 9184) otherwise known as the “Government Procurement Reform Act” and its Implementing Rules and Regulation (IRR).  The orientation focuses on the Procurement Planning and Various Modes of Procurement which was undertaken by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

The purpose of the activity is to enhance the knowledge of the BAC members and Secretariat with regard to the provisions of the law and in strengthening the implementation of R.A. 9184. This was attended by the CWC BAC members and its Secretariat together with Deputy Executive Director Marijoy Segui. Ms. Karina Antonette Agundo, Supervising Administrative Officer and Ms. Andrea Oca, Administrative Officer V of the DSWD also served as the resource persons for the event.

The following topics were discussed during the orientation: 1) overview of the BAC; 2) functions of the BAC Secretariat; 3) procurement planning; 4) competitive bidding for goods, 5) competitive bidding for consultancy services; and 6) commonly used alternative methods of procurement.

The CWC is committed in upholding good governance by ensuring transparency in its procurement process and implementation of procurement contracts as governed by the provisions in R.A. 9184 and its Implementing Rules and Regulations.
