Empowering Children’s Voices: CWC Launches “Himig MAKABATA” Jingle Writing Contest

The Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) proudly announces the launch of the “Himig MAKABATA” Jingle Writing Contest – an initiative designed to empower Filipino youth to advocate for children’s rights through the power of music.

Championing Child Rights Through Melody

As the government’s focal inter-agency body for children’s rights and welfare, the CWC remains steadfast in its commitment to protect and promote the rights of Filipino children, as mandated under Presidential Decree No. 603 and Executive Order No. 233. In line with this commitment, the CWC established the MAKABATA Helpline 1383, a national reporting and referral mechanism for child protection concerns. Initially focused on children in armed conflict under Republic Act No. 11188, the helpline’s scope has now expanded to cover broader child protection cases, including those under Republic Act No. 7610, among others. This commitment was further strengthened by Executive Order No. 79, series of 2024, which established the MAKABATA Program and institutionalized the Helpline as a key component of the country’s child protection system.
