CWC, Marillac Hills Hold 2026 Girl Child Week Outreach Activity

26 March 2026 — The Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC), in partnership with Marillac Hills – National Training School for Girls, successfully conducted the 2026 Girl Child Week Outreach Activity, benefiting young girls through a day of learning, empowerment, and creative expression. The activity gathered 50 girls aged 10 to 17 and provided a safe and engaging space where they learned about adolescence and gained a deeper understanding of consent, personal boundaries, and healthy relationships. The session was facilitated by Ms. Paola Louise Rico from the Family Planning Organization of the Philippines (FPOP), who led an interactive discussion tailored to the needs of adolescent girls. Participants also developed practical skills on personal safety and self-defense through a session facilitated by PMSG Hannalou Aureada of the Philippine National Police, equipping them with knowledge to better protect themselves in various situations. Beyond learning sessions, the activity encouraged creativity and self-expression through games, button pin-making, and letter-writing activities addressed to their future selves. These activities reinforced the girls’ aspirations, affirmed their right to dream, and empowered them to take charge of their own future. The CWC extends its sincere appreciation to its partners and facilitators for their invaluable support in making the activity meaningful and impactful for the participants.
