CWC Joins National Women’s Month Kickoff: “Lead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas”

The Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) joined the National Women’s Month Kickoff Celebration on 6 March 2026 at Rizal Memorial Stadium, Malate, Manila, celebrating this year’s sub-theme, “Lead Like the Babaylans, Filipinas.” The theme honors the strength, wisdom, and leadership of Filipino women, inspired by the historic role of Babaylans as community leaders and cultural icons. First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos delivered the President’s message, challenging the crowd to keep fighting for progress and creating new opportunities for women. Providing the analytical backbone, Philippine Commission on Women (PCW) Chairperson Ermelita Valdeavilla presented the State of the Filipino Women Report. She guided the audience through a journey of milestones—mapping out how far the movement has traveled across local communities, industrial sectors, and the global stage. Supporting the event were: Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor Remulla; Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chair John Patrick Gregorio, National Youth Commission (NYC) Chair Jose Francisco Ortega, and other delegates from the government agencies. Representatives from the United Nations and the diplomatic corps, NGOs, CSOs and private sectors also joined the event, proving that this undertaking is a shared global responsibility. The day was not limited to speeches, as participants also enjoyed a live band, raffle draws, and fun activities throughout the day.
