13th Women with Disabilities Day Celebration

Babaeng Maykapansanan, Manguna at Manindigan Tungo sa Pagbabago,” serves as the theme for the 13th Women with Disabilities Day which will be celebrated on March 28, 2017 at the Philippine Arena, Ciudad de Victoria, Bocaue, Bulacan.


This year’s theme promotes the capacity of women with disabilities to lead and urge for societal reforms to advance their full participation in the country.


Proclamation No. 744 issued on December 06, 2004 declares the last Monday of March every year as Women with Disabilities Day which is led by the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA). This year, NCDA and the Department of Justice (DOJ) as the Chair of the National Working Committee for the Women with Disabilities Day is spearheading the celebration.


The highlight activities for the event are as follows:


1.1. Booths on information, services and trainings offered by national government agencies and non-government organizations such as Legal Counselling by DOJ, Business Registration Orientation by the Department of Trade and Industry and Blind Masseurs from the National Vocational and Rehabilitation Center among others;

2.2. Trade Fairs and Bazaars showcasing products made by PWDs particularly, women with disabilities;

3.3.  Cultural presentations from PWDs (e.g. The Singing Divas, Philippine School for the Deaf Dancerama Troupe- The New Generation, Mabalacat, Mariveles PWD Movers); and

4.4. Testimonies from exceptional women with disabilities.


Among the invited government officials as Guests of Honor are President Rodrigo Duterte, DOJ Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II and Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Judy M. Taguiwalo.


Moreover, Ms. Marian Rivera Dantes as the Ambassadress for Women and Children with Disabilities is expected to deliver an inspirational message for the grand event.


Persons with disabilities (PWDs), particularly women with disabilities and advocates alike are invited to attend and support the celebration.
