CWC recognized partners for 2016 NCM

The success of the recently concluded 2016 National Children’s Month (NCM) led to the awarding of appreciation plaques by the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) to its partner organizations on 12 December 2016 at Marco Polo Hotel, Pasig City, during its Thanksgiving and Recognition of Partners for the 2016 NCM event.

The awarding of plaques was done in recognition of the partners’ commendable contribution and partnership for the 2016 NCM. This was attended by CWC Council Board Members, National Steering Committee on Child Rights Advocacy Members, and representatives from other partner organizations.

In her keynote message, CWC Executive Director Patricia Luna expressed her appreciation in the partnership and support that everyone has provided for this year’s NCM, especially in advocating for the protection and promotion of children’s rights.

Students from the Tinajeros National High School of Malabon City presented their version of sabayang pagbigkas piece of “Para sa Isang Milyong Batang Malaya!” which they presented previously on the 2016 World Day Against Child Labor celebration.

The awarding ceremony was led by CWC Executive Director Patricia Luna, National Youth Commission (NYC) Executive Director Nielex Tupas, Department of Justice (DoJ) Assistant Secretary Aimee Neri,  Department of Health (DoH) Assistant Secretary Maria Francia Laxamana, and National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Director Erlinda Capones.

Among the recipients of the plaque present in the event were: Amalgamated Specialties Corporation (AMSPEC), SM Cares Program for Children and Youth, The Soroptimist, Robinsons Land Corporation; Sun for All Children Incorporated, and National Council for Social Development; other recipients include the Land Bank of the Philippines PTV 4, The Philippine Star, UNTV, Mercury Drug Corporation, GMA News Online, Rappler, and STI Foundation.

The celebration of the 2016 NCM highlights several projects/campaigns directed towards the advancement of child rights, which includes: 1) One Million Lapis Campaign; 2) Guinness Book of World Records for the Longest Line of Pencils; 3) Dikit a Sticker on Child Safety Campaign; and 4) development of the Child Protection Policy.
