CWC launch info materials for children


In culmination of the 2016 National Children’s Month (NCM), the Council for the Welfare of Children (CWC) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development celebrated the 2016 Araw ng Kabataan on 22 November 2016 in AFP Theater, Quezon City.

The 2016 Araw ng Kabataan lauds children beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps), Pantawid Pamilya Exemplary Children for 2016, and the participants during the National Children’s Congress.

In this event, the CWC launched Comprehensive Program Framework for Children in Situations of Armed Conflict, Children’s Guidebook on Child Participation in the Philippines, 2015 State of the Filipino Children Report (SOFCR) and the CWC MAKABATA (Makabuluhang Balita at Talakayan) Newsletter which are information materials that furthers the rights and promotes the protection of Filipino children.

Captain Licerio Plan of the Armed Forces of the Philippines- Human Rights Office, presented the Comprehensive Program Framework for Children in Situations of Armed Conflict which address the alarming involvement of children in armed conflict and covers various grave violations committed towards child rights.

The Children’s Guidebook on Child Participation in the Philippines was presented by Mr. Peregrino Bertolano, Institutional Relations Manager of EDUCO. He explained that the guidebook provides guidance and help to fully involve the children in meaningful child and youth participation along planning, action or project implementation, research, trainings, emergency and relief situation and with the local council and barangay council for the protection of children.

Moreover, Mr. Elino Bardillon, Information Officer of the CWC, briefly discussed the 2015 SOFCR and the CWC MAKABATA Newsletter in addition to the publications of CWC.

Subsequently, a symbolic turn-over of the Comprehensive Program for Children in Situations of Armed Conflict, Children’s Guidebook on Child Participation in the Philippines, 2015 SOFCR and the CWC MAKABATA Newsletter to four children was executed, which highlights the significance of the children as main target of the launched documents.
